Hi! I’m Katy,
An international educator and curriculum enthusiast.
I graduated from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in 2010 with a BA in Multidisciplinary Studies and certification in EC-8th grade and ESL. I began my teaching career in my hometown of Big Spring, Texas, before starting my international teaching journey in 2013. Since then, I have taught in international schools in Kuwait, Cambodia, China, and Türkiye, working with both elementary and middle school students. In 2023, I earned an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, specializing in Online Teaching and Learning, from American College of Education. I am currently enrolled in a Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies program, focusing on International Education, at SUNY Buffalo State.

When students walk into my classroom, they step into a space where they can be readers, authors, explorers, and leaders — sometimes all in the same day. I want every student to feel that I showed up just for them, ready to cheer them on, challenge their thinking, and celebrate their unique strengths. My classroom is a safe and supportive community where curiosity thrives, mistakes are embraced as part of learning, and every culture, voice, and story has value. By nurturing a sense of belonging and wonder, I hope to spark a lifelong love of learning that travels far beyond our classroom walls.

I have also completed training in Kagan Cooperative Learning, Cognitive Coaching, and as a Seesaw Ambassador. Leading professional development sessions — including Seesaw training, Character Counts, and standards-based grading workshops — has become an area of professional interest for me. My experience as a coach has strengthened my skills as a listener, communicator, and collaborator, both inside and outside the classroom.
